Predominantly focusing on Berlin’s historical city centre, Mitte, thematically the tour covers Prussia, Imperial Germany, Nazism, and the Cold War – painting the bigger picture to help you understand how different periods of Berlin’s past fit together, and how they affect the city today. See the Reichstag, burned down after Hitler’s rise to power and now a bold symbol of modern German democracy and pass through the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin’s most iconic landmark. Walk in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, and cross the border at Checkpoint Charlie, the frontier of the Cold War. Then journey through the iconic concrete stellae of the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and learn about the tragedy of the holocaust and stand at the heart of the Museum Island, the city’s architectural heart and a UNESCO world heritage site.
You will also delve into the former Jewish Quarter, to marvel at the Moorish splendour of the New Synagogue and explore some of Berlin’s coolest backstreets, as well as walking through the old Nazi government quarter to see some remaining examples of Nazi architecture, the former SS and Gestapo Headquarters, and the site of Hitler’s Bunker. You will also visit Gendarmenmarkt and Bebelplatz, two of Berlin’s most beautiful squares, and much, much more...
At the end of the tour your guide will accompany you back to your hotel, or to a drop-off point of your choosing. They will also give you tips and recommendations to help you make the most out of your stay.

Your professional, local guide will meet you at your hotel and introduce you to Berlin and the tour.
The tour begins in Berlin’s former Jewish Quarter. Marvel at the ornate golden domes of the New Synagogue – formerly the largest Jewish place of worship in Germany
We then delve deeper into the former Jewish Quarter and visit some Stolpersteine and the Auschwitz Trees, poignant memorials to victims of Nazism.
As we walk along the river you will look out upon the second tallest building in Europe, built as a symbol of the East German state’s power and modernity in 1969.
Next we see where Westerners crossed the Wall to visit their families in East Berlin. A scene of emotional partings, the museum now present here is named: ‘The Palace of Tears’.
After a short break we head to marvel at the stunning structures and imperial splendor of this UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site. See the Old Museum, the Berlin City Palace, the Berlin Cathedral and more.
Next we pay tribute to the victims of war and tyranny at Germany's central national war memorial.
After a short walk down Unter den Linden you will visit the site of the Nazi Book Burning that took place on the 10th May 1933.
We then move on to bathe in the architectural splendor of Berlin's most beautiful square. See the French and German Domes and the Concert House.
You will then have the chance to cross between East and West at the most famous border crossing point over the Berlin Wall, frontline of the Cold War, where spies roamed and US and Soviet tanks faced off in 1961.
Next we head to the dark heart of Nazi Germany at the former headquarters of the SS and Gestapo and come face-to-face with the Cold War's most brutal symbol: The Berlin Wall.
Time will then be taken to walk through the old Nazi government quarter and see one of the last remaining pieces of Nazi architecture in the city centre.
We will then stand at the site of the bunker where history's most notorious criminal committed suicide at the end of WWII.
Moving on we will take plenty of time to journey through the iconic field of concrete blocks, and bear witness the atrocities of National Socialism.
Next we stand in the shadow of the German parliament building, burned down after Hitler’s rise to power, now a bold symbol of modern German democracy.
Finally you will walk through the gateways of Berlin's most iconic monument and find out what makes the Gate the most important cultural monument in Germany. The tour ends here.
Your guide will accompany you back to your hotel.
